An independent frequency for culture.
Position
Radio Editorial covers culture the way a good radio station programmes a night: with taste, range and a point of view. Records and rooms. Films and television. Books and arguments. The people making the work, in their own words.
Radio Editorial is a human-led independent culture publication. The main publication is commissioned and edited by our team. Open Frequency is the public side: anyone can create, collaborate and publish under their own byline using the same writing tools, with optional AI assistance.
The two are deliberately distinct. Community work is labelled as Open Frequency and passes automated source and safety checks before publication; selected pieces may later be highlighted by Radio Editorial.
Five frequencies
How we work
Two publishing layers
Radio Editorial is our curated publication. Open Frequency is the public creator stream. The byline and provenance make clear which one you are reading.
Checks before community publication
Open Frequency runs automated source and safety checks on the final draft before it goes live. Those checks reduce risk; they are not a guarantee that every statement is true.
Human-led, transparent about AI
Named people remain accountable for published work. AI may assist research organisation, transcription, editing and production, but it does not receive a byline or stand in for attendance. Material assistance is disclosed where known.
Rights-respecting imagery
Original artwork, official embeds and openly licensed photography — credited, never lifted.
Read or listen
Every dispatch has an audio edition, so the publication works in headphones as well as on the page.
Corrections welcome
If something is wrong, tell us. Corrections are made openly rather than quietly deleted.
Accountability
Publish with us.
You no longer need to wait for a commission. Start an article, work with AI if you want, invite a collaborator and publish it to Open Frequency. We still commission selected critics, essayists and interviewers for the main publication.
